Our family moved to Canada in 1999, leaving a refugee camp in Thailand. We were sponsored by a Canadian family and grew up in Riverton, Manitoba. This was where my passion for baking started. Our sponsor taught my mother and I how to bake breads and other delicious sweet treats. I would often smell freshly baked goods everyday. With fresh ingredients, family recipes and simple flavours, my interest for baking and cooking started at a young age. I continued to work in the food industry for many years after we moved to Winnipeg.
I decided to study to be a pastry chef at Red River College and obtained new skills and inspiration which is the base of Pinky’s Bakeshop. Since 2008, Pinky’s Bakeshop has continued to be a mainstay in a bakery and restaurant rich Winnipeg. We use butter and fresh ingredients, to scratch bake our cupcakes every morning. By doing this we can deliver a delicate, moist cake balanced with a fluffy butter cream icing. Over the years, we have been developing recipes and have recently introduced, slices, French macarons, cookies and other sweet treats.
